Self-Control
In our exploration of the fruit of the Spirit, we've arrived at a crucial attribute: self-control. This isn't about willpower or controlling others, but about surrendering to the Holy Spirit's guidance. We're reminded of Paul's words in Galatians 5, where self-control is listed as the final fruit. Just as a city without walls is vulnerable, we too become exposed without self-control. But here's the beautiful truth - this control doesn't come from within us, but from who is within us. As we partner with the Spirit, we develop a sensitivity to His voice and cultivate spiritual discipline. Like athletes training for a perishable prize, we're called to discipline ourselves for an imperishable one. This journey of self-control is about weakening our resistance to God's will, allowing His work to shape us more into the image of Christ. What areas in our lives need this surrender? Let's open our hearts to the Spirit's transformative power.
